This is a serious alert for every ECHS card holder and CGHS beneficiary. Please check your card status and validity, because a blocked card or a wrong “death entry” can create a chain reaction and even affect pension processing. Many people think pension stops only due to paperwork delays, but this case shows something far more dangerous: identity misuse.

A serving/retired soldier went to an ECHS counter for his daughter’s treatment. When he presented the ECHS card, the system showed the card was blocked. The reason was unbelievable: the dependent (his daughter) was shown as “deceased” and a death certificate had already been issued in her name, even though she was standing right there.

As per the case details shared in this video, a gang was operating in Greater Noida by scouting hospitals and OPDs to identify needy patients who could not afford treatment. They offered “low-cost treatment” and then arranged ECHS-based admissions using fraudulent identity setups. The suspected route is misuse of document copies (ECHS/Aadhaar/other papers) that are often submitted in panel hospitals.

In this incident, the gang allegedly used an ex-serviceman’s dependent’s identity and ECHS card details to get a patient admitted, treatment was done, and an ECHS bill of around ₹6.5 lakh was generated. When the patient died, the death certificate process ended up being linked to the card-holder dependent’s identity. Result: the real dependent’s ECHS record got blocked, and the soldier discovered it only at the counter.

How the fraud was caught:
When the card did not work, a complaint was made at Bisrakh police station (Greater Noida). Investigation exposed the gang and arrests were made. This case also raises a wider concern: such fraud is difficult without internal system familiarity, so investigations must also look at wider links in the ecosystem.

Keep ECHS/CGHS cards and documents in strict custody
Never hand over Aadhaar/ECHS photocopies to unknown agents or middlemen
If a hospital asks for copies, ensure it is an authorized counter and write purpose/date on copies
Periodically check if any unauthorized treatment/billing is appearing against your card
If anything looks suspicious, report to the police and to the relevant helpline immediately
