The folks at Husqvarna recently sent the crew at concord Carpenter their 125BVx hand-held blower to review and evaluate. The 125BVx is also comes with a a Vac-Kit for vacuuming/mulching lawn debris. [16:1 mulch ratio]
History of the Leaf blower:

Many people do not know, or frankly care, that the leaf blower was invented by Dom Quinto in the late 1950's an was used as an agricultural chemical sprayer. Like many tools folks started finding other uses for the sprayer and before long consumers were removing the chemical dispensing parts from the device, leaving only the blower behind. Manufacturers then saw the potential of their invention as a common lawn and garden maintenance tool.
Using A Leaf Blower On the Job-site:

As carpenters in the remodeling industry we use blowers for everything from clearing off areas to rebuild to clearing off roofs prior to applying shingles. I've even used them to clear away an inch of snow on a deck we where we were getting ready to install a sliding door.

POWER:

The 125BVx has a 1.1 hp, two-cycle engine and turns at 8,000 rpms. This blower produces wind speeds up to 170 miles per hour. The 125BVx has a fuel capacity of 16..91 ounces and is fuel-efficient and has a fuel consumption rate of 575 grams per kilowatt hour.

We used this blower all week and didn't even put a dent in the fuel consumption.

WEIGHT:

The Husqvarna 125BVx blower weighs 9.6 pounds and has a shoulder strap to take the weight off the user for prolonged blowing applications.

We found the Husqvarna 125BVx lightweight and easy to handle and maneuver. Husqvarna engineered the fan housing in line with the handle so the air stream is directly in line with the users arm. This helps reduce rotational torque on your hand, wrist and elbow. All of which is super important in reducing operator fatigue.

EASY TO OPERATE:

The Husqvarna 125BVx has an easy to understand and follow starting procedure. We found the dials large, easy to identify and intuitive to use and operate.

A stop switch, located at the top of the handle, automatically returns to the "on" position, after the user engages the button to turn off the motor. This eliminates the step of turning the tool back on when you want to use it. Elimination of steps saves time and aggravation.

A built in "Smart Start," allows the the engine to start quickly with minimum effort--with resistance in the starter cord. Additionally an air purge function that removes air from the carburetor and fuel system for easier starting.

RELIABLE:

We were amazed at how easily this blower started and how little resistance was required on the pull cord. The Husqvarna started every time for us on the first or second pull -- we were impressed.

Overall Impression:

We were genuinely impressed with the power, weight and ease of operation of the Husqvarna 125BVx. This handheld blower is a worthwhile purchase for the home or job-site trailer. We use ours daily and it saves us time and money by making removal of debris on large surfaces a quick and painless procedure.
