Police have fired teargas to disperse boda boda riders, who had gathered along Jinja road in Kampala to protest against the ongoing boda boda permit operation by the traffic police. The protest followed the death of a rider, who they claimed was knocked down by a KCCA garbage truck, as he attempted to evade arrest by police officers, over a traffic offense. The boda boda riders say that the violent way in which the operation was conducted has repeatedly put their lives at risk. They now want President Museveni to rein in his men in uniform.
