It was almost 10 years ago in 2012 when a group of concerned citizens came together to address a growing corruption problem in South Africa. Leading the charge to mobilise the public to report their experiences of corruption and to hold leaders to account was David Lewis. Lewis who was the former head of the Competition Tribunal became the Executive Director of the newly formed Corruption Watch, an anti-corruption watchdog and civil society organisation which later became the local chapter of Transparency International in South Africa.
Corruption Watch Executive Director David Lewis is bowing out of the organisation to retire, and he joins us virtually to talk about his experiences in the fight against corruption, and whether South Africa is succeeding in conquering a pandemic that is threatening to eat away at the country's economic and moral fibre.
