Join us as we dive into the Dell 27 All-in-One computer, specifically the EC27250 model, which is now part of the rebranded Inspiron 27 line. While Dell is a favorite brand known for its excellent customer service, warranties, and on-site support, this particular all-in-one comes with some significant caveats, especially given its increased price point of around $1,400 to $1,500.
Key Specifications & Performance: This unit comes packed with a Core i7 150U processor (more for productivity), 32 GB of user-upgradeable RAM, and a 1 TB NVMe solid state drive (also upgradeable). It features Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and an NVIDIA MX570A dedicated graphics card with 2 GB of DDR6 RAM. The 27-inch display is FHD with around 400 brightness, and this particular model includes a touch panel and a glossy finish. Connectivity includes USB-C (side), multiple USB Type-A SuperSpeed ports, two HDMI ports (one with throughput), Gigabit Ethernet, a TRRS jack, and a full-size camera card reader.
The Dell 27 All-in-One is described as a "very quick and powerful computer". It can handle some AAA gaming titles like GTA 5 and RDR2, though not on max settings.
The Missing Audience & Core Issues: Despite its power, the video highlights a difficulty in determining its exact audience. It's not quite a dedicated gaming machine for enthusiasts, who would likely opt for a desktop tower. Nor is it ideal for heavy workstation tasks like 4K movie editing or intensive CAD work, which would require a stronger graphics card.
The "Achilles heel" of this machine is its "poultry FHD panel" on a 27-inch display. While the screen offers very accurate colors, deep darks, and true whites, it's considered outdated and lacking the sharpness expected for a $1,500 machine, especially compared to higher DPI screens found in Apple's 24-inch iMacs.
Other disappointments include the "tiny and exhausted" sounding speakers from the large speaker bar, a "cheap feeling" keyboard and mouse combo, and inconveniently placed I/O ports on the back, such as the camera card reader.
Who might it be for? This computer might be suitable for professionals like sound editors working with heavy audio files, lengthy podcasts, or music with many tracks. It could also benefit photoshop users or photographers who want a large, color-accurate display for effects in Lightroom, though a higher fidelity screen is still desired.
Our Verdict: While the Dell 27 All-in-One is a reliable and decent computer, it's ultimately described as overpriced for the hardware you get and a "disappointment". If you absolutely need the power and don't mind the cost, it might be an option, but the platform "needs a little bit of work," especially a better screen, to be a "literal home run".
