CDLS (short for Cornelia De Lange) is a rare genetic disorder that affects the physical features of a person and can create complexities inside the body as well. This disorder is not passed down from the genetics of the parents and instead happens in the formation of the DNA of the baby in the early stages of the pregnancy. There are growth delays as well as intellectual delays. It is common for peoPle with CDLS to have limb differences especially if the affected gene is the NIPBL gene which is the gene that’s been affected in Valeria’s case.
