The music and cultural scene of Medway, in North Kent, England, emerged in the late 1970s amidst the punk fervor. The multifaceted Chatham artist Billy Childish, one of the most important musicians of that era, was part of emblematic 1980s bands like The Milkshakes, Thee Mighty Caesars, and Thee Headcoats, with strong influences from garage punk, rock & roll, and raw, primal rhythm and blues. He also "sponsored" several bands, including Thee Headcoats, an all-female group for whom he wrote most of their songs. They formed after a previous band, The Delmonas, also garage rock and a collaborator of Billy Childish's. "Baby Please" is from their second LP, "Have Love Will Travel" (1992). After six or seven albums, they disbanded in 1999 with "The Sisters of Suave," a compilation of their singles.
