To use Sonar Mode on your Lowrance HOOK4, power on the unit and press the 'Pages' button to cycle through views until you reach the 'Sonar' screen. This display scrolls from right to left, with the rightmost edge showing what is currently beneath your transducer. The top of the screen is the water surface, while the solid line across the bottom indicates the seabed. Fish and suspended structure will appear as arches or marks in the water column between the surface and the bottom. For a clearer picture, press the menu button and set the 'Sensitivity' to 'Auto'. The depth 'Range' will also adjust automatically, but you can use the up and down arrow keys to manually zoom in on a specific depth zone. For general fishing, use the 200 kHz frequency for the best balance of coverage and detail in most freshwater environments.
