It will be a partly to mostly cloudy start to the workweek yet mild with wake-up temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. A stray shower or two cannot be ruled out, but most will stay dry.
Monday is a 10TV Weather Impact Alert Day for the threat of strong to severe storms this afternoon and early evening. Earlier in the day, expect skies to be mostly cloudy with some peaks of sunshine and it will get windy. The warm wind will boost temperatures up into the mid-70s across central Ohio this afternoon, also setting the stage for some unsettled weather.
The atmosphere will become unstable later in the day, allowing for scattered showers and storms to develop and move through during the afternoon and early evening. Some of these storms could turn severe with the highest risk for south and southeast of I-71.
TIMING: A broken line of strong storms is expected to form in our northwestern counties as early as 3 p.m. This means unlike a typical linear round of storms, they will be more spread out which means not everyone will experience storms. This line will then move to the east/southeast before eventually exiting the region during the evening hours. Storms are expected to largely be past Columbus by 6 pm.
We are expecting a decent chance for strong to damaging winds, but other hazards such as hail and tornadoes are also possible. Far southern and southeastern Ohio will be under the gun for these higher threats, however, everyone should remain on alert through this evening for all types of severe hazards. As the latest model runs come in, the weather team will continue to share the updated timing and trends so make sure to have ways to get warnings and connect with us.
Cooler weather returns, with lows tonight down into the 40s and highs only climbing into the 50s for Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday will also be windy so expect it to feel cooler than the actual air temperature. A few showers could linger into the day on Tuesday, but by Wednesday we are back to dry weather. Temperatures will return to the 60s by Thursday with 70s as storm chances return by next Friday and Saturday.
An early look at Easter Sunday reveals partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 60s!
