Foreign Leaders on CN, VIA Venture Delivery and Testing and More - August 2022 Trains Part 2

Описание: August 2022 continued as an exciting month, with the continuation of interesting Amtrak engines to Toronto on the Maple Leaf. The delivery of the second VIA Siemens Venture set, 11 months after the first one (see it here:    • September 2021 Trains Featuring CP 40B and...   ) was significantly delayed in Sarnia, resulting in the near sunset crossing of the Halton Sub. This train began its journey on July 29, 2022 at the Siemens Mobility factory in Sacramento, CA on Union Pacific as UP SFLCH-29. Handed to CN in Chicago, IL on August 4, the train became CN P 62391 04 and kept the UP 5275 as its lead engine all the way through. Next up was another visit to Port Credit, as we had heard that the Niagara Falls train (1959) would typically overtake the westbound all stops train (1709) while going over the Credit River. The scoop occurred as expected, and the rowers were an added bonus. Two more CN trains with foreign leaders were next, with the particularly unusual full UP consist coming from Chicago on 148. While the second set had finally been delivered, VIA's first Siemens Venture set was undergoing testing and was operating as VIA 688. We caught it in the siding at Kitchener, awaiting the arrival of a GO train before it could proceed farther east. Finishing off with a Snider Sunday with VIA 1 and CN 101, CN 435 snuck out with the IC heritage unit leading, so we took advantage of beating the train to Mile 30 Halton Sub.
