Madlib and I had just got to NYC from Zanzibar in time to do SNL with Dave Chappelle and Yasiin Bey so we booked out the A room at Electric Lady Studios to put some finishing touches on Liberation 2. Madlib told me that his favorite producers included Pete Rock and Large Professor so I invited them to come kick it. Federico just got back from South Africa and while he was there he got Casper Nyovest to record an amazing verse for the album. This is the rough version of Nat Turner, Big Bird Kuti ended up on the final. I thank hiphop for taking me around the world and blessing me with nights like these.
