STORYLINE:
The tiny Gulf state of Kuwait has been preparing its defences against any chemical or biological attack.
Civil Defence forces were drilled in emergency procedures on Tuesday at an oil refinery at an undisclosed location in the Kuwaiti desert.
Civil Defence commander Colonel Mustafa Shaban, told APTN that specialists from the Kuwaiti emergency services, army and national guard were training with the help of specialists from the US and Europe.
At the end of the Gulf War, sparked by Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990, oil wells and refineries across the country were set on fire by the retreating Iraqi forces.
Iraq disputes ownership of some oil fields near the border between the two countries, and Kuwait fears it could suffer retaliation if Iraq were to come under attack by US-led forces trying to topple Saddam Hussein.
