Hiking to the B-29 Superfortress crash site on Bomber Glacier via the Reed Lakes trail in Alaska's Talkeetna Range with my wife and quadcopter. The B-29 crashed into the glacier in 1957 while returning to Elmendorf AFB, with 4 survivors out of a crew of 10. The survivors were rescued by helicopter the next day. There is a plaque fixed to the fuselage with the names of the crew and a brief description of the event. The wreck is covered by snow about 10 months out of the year and perhaps that helps preserve it, as much of it is still shiny despite all the years.
