Mexico - 'Llevame de vuelta!'

Описание: I got to spend 4-weeks in Mexico over December 2021-January 2023. It wasn't long enough to see all of it (I only scraped the surface of the East side as Mexico is such a big place - you almost need 10-days just for Mexico City!).

Aside from the couple of internal flights, travel between each place was via the ADO buses - safe, affordable, and convenient.

(Side note, you can take a bus from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido, but it will take around 10-hours and the roads are long and winding, so I paid more and booked the small plane instead).

Places visited:
Mexico City - walking tour from Zocalo area, taco tour in Roma Norte. Mercado's for authentic, affordable food. Hot Tip: check out the view of the Palacio de Bella Artes from the Cafe in the Sears Building across the road!
Teotihuacan - Tour with Wayak Tours - includes transport and Hot Air Balloon Ride over the ruins, full breakfast, + walking around the ruins afterwards Zona Arqueológica de Teotihuacán.
Oaxaca - must try the Mezcal! Stayed at Casa Angel Hostel. Such a lively, bright, friendly place, with some amazing street food!
Puerto Escondido - flew with local airline AeroTucan. Beach lovers paradise with 5 different areas, all close to each other. Here is where I got to partake in the baby turtle release at Punta Colorada Beach through the volunteer programme - such an amazing experience!
Merida - Walking tour from Parque Santa Lucia, Museum of Yucateca Gastronomy. Felt like a more traditional town, and had good coffee places!
Tulum - Playa Ruinas (Archaeological Ruins right by the ocean) / Ven a la luz (visit at night - less people) / Check out the Cenotes nearby.
Playa Del Carmen - Coco Bongo (you can also see this in Cancun) / Day trip to San Miguel de Cozumel - highly recommend snorkelling!
Chichén Itzá - one of the Wonders of the World - very touristy, but still amazing to see! Tour included Cenote Ik Kil and Suytan.
Cancun - Recommend to stay at Mayan Monkey Hostel. It's very touristy here, but there are lots of bars, restaurants and beach. Parasailing off the main beach was a cool experience!
Isla Mujeres - Day Trip via boat from Cancun hotel zona area. Playa Norte beach is the most warm, clear water - take me back!!
Valladolid - Lots of history here (similar to Merida). From here did a day trip to Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas - muy bonita!
Mexico City - Chapultepec Park, Xochimilco floating markets, Supra Roma Rooftop Bar, and the Museo Nacional de Antropología. On Sunday paseo de la reforma closes off the streets for pedestrians only - it's full of people walking, biking, rollerblading and dancing - loved it!
(On Friday's you can also go to see a Lucha Libre Wrestling match).

Other places to consider if you get time:
San Cristobal de las Casas and Bacalar.

Now I just need to go back to see more!
