In the 1977 horror film The Car, a menacing, driverless black coupe terrorizes a small desert town in Utah. After running down several townspeople, including the sheriff, the local police force led by Captain Wade Parent (James Brolin) is left baffled. The car appears unstoppable, shrugging off police chases and even gunfire. Its supernatural nature becomes clear when it refuses to enter "hallowed ground" like a cemetery. With the car escalating its attacks, Wade and his deputies are forced to come up with a final, desperate plan to stop the mysterious, demonic vehicle before it can claim more lives.
