Sid, a music teacher, is deeply in love with Rachel but Rachel is closely tied to her privileged family and has selflessly become indispensable to them. Sid would like their relationship to become more than deep friendship and in these first scenes they begin to talk about having a physical relationship with each other.

Rachel and Sid are two LGBTQ+ characters from a UK TV drama show set just before WWII that first screened back in 2001. The TV series is based on a series of novels and I understand follows the books closely These scenes are a lovely study of the taboos that existed at the time regarding the love between two women
