This year I decided to spend Thanksgiving in Las Vegas with the family there. I decided to fly out the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Did I press my luck flying to Vegas, on American Airlines?

In this trip report, I fly American Airlines from Los Angeles (LAX) to Las Vegas (LAS) — a route that normally takes 45 minutes but turned into a seven-hour ordeal right before Thanksgiving.

This trip was supposed to be a quick hop to spend the holiday with family in Vegas. Instead, two different Boeing 737-800s had mechanical issues, causing multiple delays and reboarding. For all the trouble, American gave us a $12 meal voucher — barely enough for a sandwich at LAX!

I don’t usually fly American, and after this, I might think twice before booking them again. Still, it’s all part of the trip reporting experience — the good, the bad, and the (very) delayed.
