The fabulously dense Aravalli outcrop forest located around Mangar village in Haryana is one of the last vestiges of thick sylvan cover around the city of Delhi and its National Capital Region. This mostly Dhok tree forest is unique and non-replicable as it has taken thousands of years to develop in these difficult conditions of rocky Aravalli hills that experience intense summer heat and water deprivation.
Hidden behind hilly layers of Sariska like Aravalli forest lies this temple complex deep within the Mangar forest, and reachable only by those who seek and search for it. On all sides lie the city of Delhi and the burgeoning high rises of Gurgaon, but this magical patch of 600 acres of forest lie in between, and while real estate developers have been eyeing it, the ideal end use would be for the government to buy back the portion owned by the real estate folks, and turn this into a national or global UNESCO World Heritage site, as it also contains caves that date back to the paleolithic period, with paintings that are the oldest to be found anywhere in India, pre-dating even the Bhimbhetka caves!
