Suellen had a long battle with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSDS), also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), spanning many years, which lead to many wounds and infections. She made the difficult decision to have an amputation and came to Sheltering Arms Institute for inpatient rehab following her surgery to learn to care for her limb and herself. Suellen then continued her progress in outpatient therapy until her prosthetic was ready, that's when she came back to Sheltering Arms Institute for a second round of inpatient therapy to learn how to live with her new prosthetic limb.
