Andromeda was my first DSO and we're giving it another go! It is located in the northern half of the celestial sphere near the constellation Cassiopeia. Andromeda is identifiable in real time, making it a decent target for beginners. It's really neat to image it with a H-Alpha filter as well as you can capture the nebula along its outer rings.
Things have cooled down a bit now so I should be able to get out to image a bit more. The mosquitoes were absolutely killing me during the late summer. I'll probably be hitting a bunch of H-Alpha heavy nebula like the Rosette Nebula and Flame & Horse Head Nebulae as we get into winter.
