🧊 Surrounded by ice!! 🧊 Above, below and beside!! Walking through a glacier is truly an amazing experience! You get up close and can feel the size of the frozen river around you. You can better see the deep blues of the ice! The contrast of the ice, snow and sky is incredible! It is estimated that the ice we’re walking through can range from 250-600 years old! That’s how ling it takes from the time the snow fell on the mountain tops until it made its way all the way down the valley.
This exploration was actually from a few years back and done during the only time you would want to be in these parts of the glacier… in winter. The cold temps (between 10 and 20 below zero) in winter keep the glacier much more stable whereas in summer you would not catch me near a passage like this.
