At Contact in the Desert 2025, we conducted field work under the ECHO Project focused on a missing variable in UFO research: the experiencer. Rather than treating sightings as isolated visual events, we recorded and analyzed physiological and consciousness-related data from participants during live skywatch sessions. The goal was to explore whether measurable internal state changes correlate with reported UFO sightings, especially during moments of perceived contact or anomalous activity.
This work represents a shift from object-only detection toward an integrated model that treats consciousness as part of the observational system. By synchronizing subjective reports with objective measurements, ECHO aims to determine whether certain internal conditions reliably coincide with anomalous experiences. If UFO encounters are not purely external events, then understanding the human signal becomes as important as tracking what appears in the sky. This project is an early step toward building a data-driven framework for studying contact as a combined external and internal phenomenon.
