I've thought about the state of SIDWiz (and the branches it evolved into) for a while:
-Windows-only thanks to C# and the reliance on .dlls/other .exes
-used for more than just SID tracks
-each project handled by only 1 person (afaik)
SIDWiz 1
-simple to understand, static and basic
-ded
-frames in .PNGs
SIDWiz 2
-(more) complicated, more features, more options
-output m̲u̲s̲t̲ be compressed video (or uncompressed frames in video container*)
-compression algorithms limited to system
-in active development (prolly?)
*if you cp the avi file before the mkv converter deletes it after failing to put uncompressed frames into mkv.
SIDWiz [n]
-better algorithm than 1, on level with 2(?)
-frames in .PNGs
-just one colour option like 1
-1080p@60Hz only
-kinda in active development
...to name a few things.
I'm sure one could get around the Windows-only part with programs like Wine, but it's nontheless suboptimal.
I thought about rewriting [n] for some time now to make it fully "mine" and less awkward to work on. Therefore, I would like to suggest the following:
-A "port" of SIDWiz to an interpreted language for maximum platform independency.
-A github project for transparency, a bug report & feature request as well as group development
-Maybe a Discord/Skype group for direct feedback?
I would love to write something competent in Lua again. It's interpreted, small and fast, but not really advanced when it comes to file manipulation. The code is easy to read (like Pascal) and powerful, but single-core only. (:c)
I don't know w̲h̲e̲n̲ I'll have time for it, nor how much time I can spare for it every day, but I know that it w̲i̲l̲l̲ happen soon𝘪𝘴𝘩.
So stay tuned, stay fresh and have a nice and chill sunday everyone! And definetly check out みょん's channel!

I'm still actively working on improving my "branch" of SIDWiz. Kinda.
Suggestions and requests are more than welcome.
