Isthmus Peak | Hiking Isthmus Peak for Sunset

Описание: Isthmus Peak lies on a stretch of land known as The Neck just outside of Wānaka, New Zealand. Isthmus peak stands at 1,386 meters or 4,547 feet tall. Isthmus Peak offers stunning views of both Lake Wānaka and Lake Hāwea and the surrounding peaks.

Isthmus peak is an easy track to follow. It's well marked and is basically a wide path. However, it does run through private property so it is important to make sure you stay on the track at all times.

We did this hike in order to catch a good sunset at the summit of Isthmus Peak. We hardly saw anyone else on the entire hike and had the summit all to ourselves for well over 30 minutes.

If you're between doing the famous Roy's Peak or Isthmus Peak, we would recommend doing this hike simply for the difference in people doing the hike. We're always big fans of being able to enjoy some solitude while hiking. You definitely will not get that with Roy's Peak. Not to take anything away from Roy's Peak as it is very beautiful as well, but Isthmus Peak offers very similar views with significantly less people!
