Generator Comparison: Westinghouse Igen 4500 VS Champion 3400 Review! | Full-Time RV Living

Описание: We bought a new generator to replace the pair of Champions that we have used since we started RVing. The Champions have been pretty good generators and were a great price point. With that being said, they do have a couple of shortcomings - the biggest being the need to have two of them for any load above one AC unit, as all our AC units are 15KW.

The other shortcoming is the small fuel tanks. They tend to run out of gas before morning if it's hot outside and the AC is working.


The Westinghouse, and its twin Onan, are rated to run 15+ hours at a 25% load rating, so we're hoping to do better than the 8 hours max we typically get out of the Champions. It also has an electric start, which will make it convenient when the solar just isn't cutting it and we need a bit more juice - no running outside to pull the cord. I know, first-world problems, right?


Our search for a new generator actually began last August when our Champions were giving us problems. We had left gas in them one (or more) too many times, and they were not running well.

After much research, we decided the Westinghouse was the best bang for the buck, but as luck would have it, the supply chain for them was affected by the Pandemic, so we ended up replacing the carburetors on the Champions and calling it good. Got the notification recently that the Westinghouse's were back in stock and pulled the trigger on one. Check out the video.
