Mitzi Cowell is a Tucson-born singer, songwriter, guitarist, and visionary artist whose performances blend soulful blues, poetic lyrics, and spiritual insight. A master of folk-blues fingerpicking and electric groove, she’s played with top-tier musicians across genres and brings the heart of the desert into every note. Her music is playful, deeply felt, and rooted in American roots traditions, with the high-caliber musicianship of a seasoned session player. Imagine Jane Siberry in Clarksdale with the Meters behind her. Mitzi’s shows are intimate, uplifting, and sonically rich—where groove, soul, and spirit meet.

The 40th Annual Tucson Folk Festival is Arizona's largest free to the public music festival. This annual family-friendly festival is held in some of the most historic sections of Downtown Tucson. The event celebrates Americana and Folk Music traditions and all the wonderful variations, including bluegrass, blues, country, jazz, Celtic, zydeco, and various styles of Latin and Mexican music! Presented by the Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association (TKMA) and the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA).
