Описание: The Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will conduct an additional probe into the plane crash that killed senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
The tragic accident occurred on January 28 when a private Learjet aircraft, carrying Ajit Pawar and four others, crashed near the Baramati airport shortly after being cleared to land. An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered at the Baramati Taluka Police Station, following which the investigation is being transferred to the CID as per protocol.
According to officials, the aircraft was initially asked to perform a go-around due to poor visibility. After receiving clearance to land, the plane reportedly failed to provide the mandatory read-back to Air Traffic Control before catching fire near the edge of the runway, just 200 metres from touchdown. All five onboard — including the pilot, co-pilot, flight attendant, and a personal security officer — were killed in the crash.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has already taken over the technical investigation. The black box has been recovered and sent for analysis, with CID’s inquiry expected to proceed based on AAIB’s preliminary and forensic findings.
The Maharashtra government has released an official timeline of events, as questions continue to be raised over the sequence leading to the fatal crash. Further details are awaited as investigations progress.
