Raise it by the ocean’s edge

Noretereḷige anjidode entayya?
Must it fear each crashing wave?

Santeyoḷagondu maneya māḍi,
Make your dwelling deep in bazaar

Shabdakke naachidode entayya?
Why flinch at passing noise?

Cennamallikārjunadēva kēḷayayya —
O Lord Chennamallikarjuna, hear me

Lōkadoḷage huṭṭida baḷika
A girl born into this wide world

Stuti-nindegaḷu bandaḍe

Manadalli kōpava tāḷade
