Cyclone Alfred is just over 24 hours away from making landfall, bringing with it wind gusts up to 155 kilometres per hour, 800 millimetres of rain and the threat of storm surges.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting the cyclone will cross the coast in South East Queensland early Friday morning.
But its brutal impact will be felt all the way down into New South Wales, with millions of people in its path.
