Amal’s academic path was not without setbacks. Despite an initial rejection from the University of Chicago, her persistence paid off when she was accepted to Columbia University with a full academic scholarship, underscoring the value of resilience, initiative, and long-term commitment to her goals. This documentary is intended to inspire young and non-traditional students, particularly those from underrepresented or uncertain academic backgrounds, to see themselves in neuroscience and to believe that their experiences can be a strength, not a barrier.
