READ BELOW FOR EXPLANATION OF A FALSE SEAL
I am on MANY Facebook Canning Groups where some are teaching that if a lid Seals, whether it be " Hot Food Canned" , " Oven Canned" " sealed in the refrigerator overnight" And SO Many unsafe ways to " Can". The ONLY Way to SAFELY Process food is either in a Pressure Canner or Water Bath Canner.
Will you get " False Seals" EVEN if you do Everything Correctly? ABSOLUTELY! Sometimes air or gas from the food is present. We cannot see it, but it's there! That is why De-Bubbling ALL Foods is Highly recommended.
We want to know that the food we work hard and store, then feed our families is SAFE. 💜🫶

This video demonstrates how a false seal can occur and why it's important to check your jars:
A false seal in canning occurs when a jar lid appears sealed, but the seal is compromised, potentially leading to spoilage and foodborne illness. This can happen when a jar isn't properly processed, the rim isn't clean, or when a jar unseals and then reseals due to pressure from the canning ring or other factors. It's crucial to understand how to identify a false seal and take appropriate action to ensure food safety.
Identifying a False Seal:
Listen for the "pop":
During processing, a popping sound indicates the lid is sealing. If you hear a pop after the processing time, it's a good sign, but not a guarantee. If you don't hear a pop, it's a warning sign of a potential false seal.
Check the Button:
Press the center of the lid. If it flexes up and down or feels hollow, the jar is not sealed.
Tap the Lid:
A tinny or hollow sound when tapping the lid can also indicate a poor seal.
Remove the Ring:
After cooling, remove the ring and try to lift the jar by the lid. If the lid comes off easily, the seal is compromised.
Visual Inspection:
Look for any signs of leakage or spoilage around the lid or jar rim
