4 Day Hut to Hut Mountain Traverse // The Super Bomber Traverse!

Описание: This adventure showcases the Bomber Traverse, a multi-day hut-to-hut trek through the rugged talkeetna mountain range. The trek encompasses 40 miles and 16,000ft of elevation gain across beautiful mountain passes, glaciers, boulder fields, tundra and streams. Hope y'all enjoy this adventure!

The super bomber traverse begins at the Eska falls trail head in Sutton Alaska. It's about 14.5 miles to go up and over elbow pass and then to the Dnigi hut. This section of the trek is relatively easy as the terrain isn't to technical, but the easy terrain is made up for with the milage and the 6300 ft of elevation gain. Day 2 from the Dnigi hut to the Seth Holden hut was a short day milage wise with 6.6 miles and only 3500ft of elevation gain, but this section in my opinion was the most technical. Between moose pass and blazing saddle the terrain was steep, bouldery and loose. This made the section slow and nerve wrecking. We were glad to make it the Seth Holden hut. Day 3 upon review we bit off more than we could chew. My brilliance began with the genius decision to not bring crampons. This made what would've been a mild climb up ozone pass pretty sketchy as we had to share the micro spikes Trevor brought. We then moseyed our way down to the bomber hut and dropped our packs for a swift skedaddle up to the plane. At this point we should've stayed at the bomber hut, but my ambition told us we could continue to the snow bird hut. We made it, but we were absolutely barbecue bacon cheese burgered by the time we got there. The day ended up being 13 hours, 13.4 miles and 6000ft of elevation gain. This did make our final day out to the trail head the shortest and easiest only being 5 miles with 650ft gain. However, the prior days ambition caught up to me on the 2500ft elevation drop from glacier pass as my knee went kaputs. With only 2 miles left we powered through to the finish line and and celebrated at the Hatcher pass lodge with hot burgers and cold beers.
