The benefits of a good AHRS are the noise-free and acceleration-proof compass output with accuracy better than 0.2° and a latency time of only 50 .. 100 msec of accurate position (attitude and heading data). With those data, an electrical driven rudder of a sailing ship is able to keep the yacht secure on course and:
Save a lot of energy. Helm corrections are made when really necessary. And merely with minimum necessary amount of energy, means: The motor drives slowly, with few energy demand, when only a slow rudder adaption is needed.
