ORGANICS is divided into The GEOLOGICAL or TERRESTRIAL ORGANISM (The EARTH, the Universal), The PLANT or VEGETABLE ORGANISM (the Particular), and The ANIMAL ORGANISM (the Individual).
In brief, the GEOLOGICAL or TERRESTRIAL ORGANISM is divided into the History, Structure, and Life of the Earth.
The PLANT OR VEGETABLE ORGANISM is essentially an anticipation of the Animal Organism, and exhibits the same three processes dictated by the U-P-I CONCEPT, namely: Formation or Shape (U), Assimilation (P), and Reproduction or the Genus Process (I), the Plant’s production of another individual like itself.
The ANIMAL ORGANISM is the concrete and true SUBJECT, exhibiting the same processes as the Plant but in their perfection: Shape (U), Assimilation (P), and the Genus Process (I). For Hegel the Animal, the realized CONCEPT, sums up within itself all of Nature. Hence, the human Body contains within itself ALL the characteristics of Mechanics and Physics—space, water, heat, electricity, chemistry, etc.
The moments SHAPE (U) are The Functions of the Organism, The Systems of Shape, and The Total Structure. The Organism’s Functions are Sensibility, the Universal (U), where the one universal Soul is everywhere present and feels in all parts of its Body; Irritability, the Particular (P), which is receptivity to external stimulation and reaction to it; and Reproduction, the Individual (I), whereby the organism constantly renews itself as an individual.
The moments of ASSIMILATION (P) are The Theoretical Process and The Practical Relationship.
Lastly, the GENUS PROCESS or SEX-RELATION (I). It has 3 parts or processes: The Sex Relation, The Genus and Species, and The Genus and the Individual – which correlate with 3 types of Death: Death by copulation, by violence, and by disease; all three of which have to do with the contradiction in Nature between the Genus (or Universal or CONCEPT) and the Individual.
[Welcome! I am Ken Foldes of St. John’s University. My Job Description is “Teacher of the End of History and Kingdom Come, NOW.” We are teaching the complete System of Hegel’s Philosophical or ABSOLUTE SCIENCE—The Introduction, The Science of Logic, The Science of Nature, and The Science of Spirit—which will be taught in all the world’s schools and universities and will replace, yet preserve, all existing “sciences” on our planet. ABSOLUTE SCIENCE is simply the Science of the Absolute, or the Absolute’s Science or Knowledge of Itself. Of ultimate importance is that there is only ONE REALITY, or, REALITY is ABSOLUTELY ONE. Thus, the History of the World and the History of Philosophy is nothing but this One Reality – the ABSOLUTE – becoming conscious of Itself [for more on this see Hegel’s History of Philosophy, Hegel and the Solution to Our Postmodern World Crisis, and The Jedi Handbook of Global Education, PART ONE]. The Philosophy or SCIENCE of NATURE that we will be teaching in this module is the Third science of the System. The purpose of these Lectures is to provide you with the basic tools that will enable you to understand Hegel’s Science of Nature. There are FOUR main Lectures: LECTURE ONE: INTRODUCTION, LECTURE TWO: MECHANICS, LECTURE THREE: PHYSICS, and LECTURE FOUR: ORGANICS. (The other sciences of Hegel’s System will be made available in the near future. For a transcript of these lectures go to Academia.edu)]
