Its hydraulic retraction makes working with the BX-42RS a real pleasure. There is no pushing, pushing etc. with this model; the 2 large feed rollers do it all by themselves. The speed of the feed rollers can be infinitely varied. This is important to adjust the feed speed to the diameter of the shredded material. Smaller diameters can be fed in faster than larger diameters. Should the feeder still block, it can be switched to reverse mode via the large bracket on the hopper. Furthermore, the feeder can also be switched off via this bracket. The feed is supplied by the tractor hydraulics; a pressure feed and a pressureless return or a double-acting control valve are required. For the operation of the draw-in rollers a litre capacity from approx. 10 l/min. is sufficient.

The BX-42 RS model is the latest version of the BX shredder, which has a suspension of the feed rollers on both sides and a reinforced feed hopper.

The wood chipper is supplied complete with PTO shaft. The PTO has a shear pin on one side, which for safety reasons serves as a predetermined breaking point in case of blockages or overloads. This means that even larger tractors with more than 100 HP can be used without any problems. They should have at least an engine power of 30 HP available. The PTO speed must be 540 rpm.

The hopper has a 51 x 51 cm opening at the top; at the bottom the opening measures 10.2 x 25.4 cm. A maximum diameter of 10 cm can be shredded. Many competitors give the maximum shredding diameter equal to the dimensions of the lower filling opening, but this is unrealistic and can trigger the safety mechanism in the PTO. Softer woods may be shredded with dimensions of up to 15 cm wide; such diameters are usually processed into firewood and are not shredded.

The processing of the BX-42RS is very solid; the material thicknesses of the plates used are 10 and 5 mm in the load-bearing area and 2 mm at the hoppers and non-load-bearing parts.

For transport, the hopper can easily be folded up and secured with a split pin.

The machine is very easy to maintain; by loosening only one screw, the complete flywheel cover can be opened and access to the 4 cutting blades is possible. These cutting knives have blades on both sides so that they can be easily turned if necessary. The flywheel has a dead weight of 50 kg and has attached wings, which create a very strong pull, through which the shredded material is finally blown out through the discharge hopper. Due to this very strong draft, a clogging of the shredder is almost impossible.

The discharge funnel has a height of 152 cm (plus the lifting of the lower link) and can be turned 360 degrees. In this way the shredded material can be easily filled even onto higher trailers or directly into big bags. The ejection angle can also be changed. The BX-42RS throws the shredded material up to 6 metres!
