In a previous video we looked at some natural English speaking for the simple grammar phrase DO YOU and we saw that students learn the pronunciation as /du: ju:/ But actually, the pronunciation is /ʤə/
The same is also true for the past simple form "DID YOU..." Students learn the pronunciation of this phrase as /dɪd ju:/ but the natural English speaking is actually /dɪ ʤə/
This is what we call the WEAK FORM. Weak forms in English pronunciation happen when a vowel sound is changed and we use a schwa /ə/ instead. This is a weak "uh" sound and we use it A LOT when we speak English fluently so it is very important for you to practice it if you want to reduce your accent in English and improve your natural English speaking.
