WOOHOO! JUST HIT 900 SUBS! ALMOST FINALLY TO A THOUSAND! THANKS A BUNCH TO YOU ALL, MY FAITHFUL FOLLOWERS!
And as a reward for this most recent plateau crossed I've got a fairly lengthy video that I shot recently. I knew this one was inevitable, especially considering how much the landscape has changed in the last 114 years. For this one, I go down and visit the site of the 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition, which took place up primarily in the Portland Heights/Slabtown area over by the Montgomery Park building. Back then this undeveloped area was transformed into a venerable World's Fair for the city of Portland (even though the actually World's Fair people made sure to let everyone know that this Expo was not, in fact, a valid World's Fair... bastards). Today you'd never know it was there as the area is predominantly warehouses in a very industrial neighborhood. But that's what really drew me to going back and retelling this little piece of Portland history that was instrumental in the boom the town had in the following years. Enjoy!
P.S. There's even a little Historic Murders of Portland episode wedged in here as it was significant in really telling the story about what happened to the area in the years immediately following the Lewis and Clark Expo when the land was generally abandoned and the structures allowed to decay and collapse.
