In this golden hour walking tour of Albufeira, we take a look at the Fisherman’s Festival in Old Town Albufeira, filmed as the beach and square were filling with energy for the evening ahead. The stage was set up by the square near Praia dos Pescadores (Fisherman’s Beach), ready for the live bands and dancers to perform. Even though it was early, DJs were already blasting out Portuguese folklore music, filling the streets with lively sounds.

Street vendors lined the promenade selling beer, wine, seafood, and bifanas, with hundreds of tables and chairs set between the stalls for diners. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay for the live entertainment, but instead, we guide you on a tour of Albufeira’s bars and restaurants that keep the Old Town alive throughout the year.

Along Fisherman’s Beach (Praia dos Pescadores) you’ll find Cabana Fresca, Oceana, and Flavours, all set directly on the sand. We explore the backstreets of Albufeira Old Town, passing favourites such as Mi Sombrero, Infinity Bar, and Ricardo’s – a fantastic Italian restaurant with a rooftop terrace overlooking the square.

We detour to see Il Brigante, O Manjar, and the YOLO Lounge, before heading to Tunnel Street where Bailote, Taska d’Alkash, and Alfredo’s serve up traditional Portuguese and international menus. Hidden away, we show you Staar Restaurant and Indian Nights, before passing through the tunnel beneath the Sol e Mar Hotel to the beach.

On the other side, there’s Oisha, an all-you-can-eat Chinese and sushi spot, right next to The Steps Bar with its nightly live entertainment. Walking left, we pass Terraza Restaurant and Casa de Fonte, before heading uphill to The Beach Basket and Bar 54, both with fantastic views of Penedo Beach. We finish our Albufeira walking tour at the viewing point, looking out over the Old Town bathed in golden hour light.
