JVC mini systems FS-1000, FS-2000, FS-5000, FS-6000, FS-7000, and UX-1000 all have the same CD door mechanism and use exactly the same rubber belt: JVC Part# VKB3000-170 - according to Service Manuals for the six systems.
In place of the old streched square rubber belt I used a rubber O-ring from local hardware store. The proper size O-ring is #39 [1 7/16" OD x 1 5/16" ID] or [36.5 mm OD, 33.3 mm ID, 1.6 mm thick]. It cost 79 cents and it works just as well as the original belt.
This video shows step-by-step replacement process of the belt in a vintage JVC stereo system FS-2000 made in August 1997. The little stereo originally had a remote control and a pair of very cute wooden speakers, which I don't have. This tiny system looks, sounds, and operates very well after CD door got a brand new belt.
