It’s been about 130 years since the world was first introduced to moving drawings with stories, and that’s long enough for whole generations of artists to come and go. You see terms like “silent era” and “renaissance” thrown around a lot in animation history texts, and while they’re subject to debate, here’s the five most universally agreed upon. This mostly has to do with the North American branch of the industry, but I still intend to present many different studios, characters and art styles that can prove the variety and versatiliy of animation as a storytelling medium across time. And I hope the ultimate misconception can be brought up and debunked with this video.
