Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré assumed the one-year rotating presidency of the
Alliance of Sahel States (AES) Confederation on December 23.
■ In a powerful speech, Traoré warned of a coming "Black Winter" of imperialist vi-lence, economic pressure, and external threats aimed at undermining the sovereignty of the AES nations (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger), and called for Pan-African unity.
■ Under his leadership, the Confederation is finalizing its plans for the launch of an AES Television channel and radio station to combat disinformation, a Confederal Bank for Investment, biometric passports for AES citizens, and an official flag, anthem, and logo.
■ He also vowed the Confederation would combat t-rr-rism in the region, which is being funded by the West to destabilize the AES.
