Monumental Pre-historic Monster Milodon Cave - Torres del Paine, Patagonia, Chile
Cueva del Milodon Natural Monument is a Natural Monument Cave Complex located in the Chilean Patagonia 24 km northwest of Puerto Natales and 270 km north of Punta Arenas.
The monument is situated along the flanks of Cerro Benitez. It comprises several caves and a rock formation called Silla del Diablo (Devil's Chair). The monument includes a huge cave over halve kilometer deep in the mountain and in highest point over 80 meter high. The Cave is notable for the discovery in 1895 of skin, bones and other parts of a giant Ground Sloth called Mylodon Darwini which was over 3 meters tall. It is also part of the End of the World a scenic touristic route in Tierra del Fuego on the very tip of South America - the most southern main land tip of all continents with exception of Antarctic.
