National Zoological Park to open for Visitors from 8th November , 2025

The National Zoological Park (NZP) would be re-opening for visitors with effect from 08.11.2025. The Delhi Zoo informed that usual safety and preventive measures shall be followed after its re-opening for visitors.

The NZP was closed for visitors w.e.f. 30.08.2025, after the report of positive case of avian influenza virus in water bird aviary on 28.08.2025. All prescribed biosafety and surveillance guidelines issued by the competent authorities were followed thereafter.

Guidelines under chapter 6 of ‘Action taken for preparedness, control and containment of Avian Influenza (revised 2021)’ issued by Union Ministry of Fisheries Animal Husbandry and Dairying were strictly followed during the closure period. Sampling was repeated after every 15 days for 4 times and all the samples from last positive case were found negative as per report of NIHSAD, Bhopal.

The National Zoological Park remains committed to the health and well being of its precious wild animals and the safety of the visitors and staff.

The National Zoological Park, commonly known as Chidiya Ghar, the park, or zoo, is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including various species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. the park is home to a wide variety of wildlife species, including varied types such as the White Tiger and Indian Rhinoceros, among others.

The National Zoological Park is located along Mathura Road in the Indian capital, New Delhi. This significant geographic spot covered 176 acres and was officially opened on November 1, 1959.
