Hey guys, super pleased to be back with another WORLD RECORD speedrun! ⏱️

This is one's been in the making for a quite a while - in fact, I think I've added 43 hours to my total Steam playtime during its creation!

The run's proved challenging for a few reasons; chief amongst them is that I've managed to improve upon each of the four levels in terms of strategy, and that I've improved the times of the first three significantly. Hitting the lower times consistantly can be challenging to say the least, and so we have a progressively higher expectation for each.

The second is that the RNG - excluding the second mission - has meant that I have had to roll with the punches on occasion, and accept slower times whilst maneuvering to accomodate the changing conditions on-the-fly.

The third is that I am an impossible perfectionist and just can't accept a misclick, unfavourable RNG or less-than-optimal gameplay, even with a fantastic clear time.

... Also, the Outplayed software continues to not record my cursor for some reason, which has robbed us of a - if I do say so myself - absolutelty fantastic run.

... And yesI have tried AND tried to replicate it, and I simply cannot justify spending any more time on this one.

Obviously we've all seen the missions before. This run achieved two level World Record, which I have in turn beateen and will upload at some point. If anything of interest is at note, it's that the runs are more optimised. I have taken 1 minute off of the first and 6 seconds off of the second, with the third weighing in at 15 seconds OVER the current WR. The final hits home at the WR pace.

The third mission has been main the failing point, seconded by the first which became so optimised that a simple mis-click killed it. The third is now survivable around 50% of the time with certain considerations taken into account...

The full campaign run differs in that I have taken the RNG of unit paths and unit type spawns into account and have optimised for the worst outcomes. This doesn't necessarily mean a loss in time per-se, as the lost run actually beat all of the current World Records, shaving a second off of the last mission to boot.

This will be the first of the three full campaigns, with the last two following in the coming months. I'll now be directing some time elsewhere, spending a little time relaxing and refueling! Part of that will involve Tempest Rising and Tiberian Sun, though!
