At a press briefing, Petroleum Ministry officials said consumers facing LPG supply issues will be encouraged to shift to piped natural gas (PNG) connections wherever possible. The government has also asked GAIL and city gas distribution companies to speed up the rollout of PNG connections for eligible commercial and household consumers.

Authorities clarified that no LPG stockout has been reported so far, but booking numbers have surged sharply due to panic buying. The government says these steps are being taken to ensure stable cooking gas supply across India.
