In this video, we take a different approach to the precision half-wave rectifier, and then construct two variations on the theme: a precision voltage clamp, and a peak detector circuit.

We discover that a key factor for the performance of these circuits is how fast an op-amp can change its output voltage: the so-called slew rate. We also improve on their performance by making sure that an intermediate signal does not need to slew as far, limiting the jump to two diode drops rather than swinging to a supply rail.
