Islamabad is witnessing heightened security arrangements ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s announced September 27 long march. Containers have been placed at several important locations and entry and exit routes, while additional police and security personnel have been deployed.

According to the report, D-Chowk has been sealed with containers, while barriers have also been placed at entry points to the Red Zone. Containers have reportedly been positioned near Serena Hotel as part of arrangements to control access towards the Diplomatic Enclave.

Security arrangements are also underway on different routes connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with surveillance through cameras and deployment of additional personnel.

The report says that more than 65,000 security personnel from different departments and reserve forces have reached Islamabad, while arrangements have reportedly been made for their accommodation in various schools. It also reports that 24 schools are scheduled to remain closed until October 5 because of the security situation.

Meanwhile, Islamabad residents have expressed concerns about road closures and the impact of prolonged protest-related restrictions on their daily lives, including commuting to offices, businesses, schools, colleges and universities.

Citizens also discuss the possible impact on the supply of food, fruits, vegetables, medicines and other essential goods from surrounding cities, as well as the public cost of extended security and traffic arrangements.

The report also captures residents' calls for political issues to be addressed through dialogue while allowing lawful political activity without unnecessarily disrupting ordinary citizens.
