Malcolm X (1992) is an American biographical drama directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington. The film is based on The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley, chronicling Malcolm’s life from childhood through his criminal years, imprisonment, conversion to Islam, rise as a leader in the Nation of Islam, and his eventual assassination in 1965. The story portrays his evolution from a street hustler known as “Detroit Red” to one of the most influential and controversial figures in American history.
