Four Japanese Sawonobori climbers attempted to trek up to the peak of Mount Kinabalu through Low’s Gully. Sawanobori is a Japanese term for stream climbing. The four climbers were Naruse Yoichi (Team Leader), Sato Yusuke, Kobayashi Toshiyuki and Tanaka Satoru. They started their journey from Kampung Melangkap Tomis in Kota Belud through the Panataran trail before heading to Low’s Gully to reach the peak at 4092.5m asl.
