The island is a short 6 min boat ride from the mainland. The Al Dar office is in Sitra fishermans port about 15 min drive from the capital Manama. You can either just spend the day using the beach, which is one of the biggest in Bahrain or stay overnight in what is called al Dar North. For overnight stay on the north side of the island in one of the super chalets or even in what they call a double decker, these are a open sided palm tree built shade with as the names suggest an upstairs for a little privacy. You will need some photo ID like a passport or a CPR. Buy tickets on the day at their office, a small minibus drives you the very short distance to their sea taxis - they have 3 of them. And then off to the island. The boats run up and down all so when you have had enough of sun, beach, great food and cocktails, the drivers will be on hand to drop you back over.
